What type of website do I want to create? And how do I choose the best web host for my website?
The type of website which you are going to create has a large impact on the sort of web host you should choose. The amount of time you have to spend on your website and the amount of skill you have when it comes down to actually creating the site are both important factors which may effect your decision. Not all web hosts offer the same services. Some simply offer, ‘web hosting’, they offer no support and certainly no advice on the actual creation of your website. Be careful to check that you know what you are getting.
The purpose of this page is to help you make a more informed decision when you come to choosing your web host and finally becoming ready to create a website. Don’t rush into it, slow down and get it right!
Google can pay for your website. If gathering the money to create a website seems like a difficult task, then you may be interested to learn that Google Adsense can help you out. As long as you do not use a free webhost you will be able to apply to Google Adsense and display other people’s text ads on your site. So, What type of website are you creating? It could be one of the following:
1.An ‘About you website’ or a site which is purely going to be there just for the fun of it.- If it is the type of website which you are going to create then you should consider using a free webhost such as freewebs.com. It is extremely easy to create a freewebs website. There is virtually no skill required on your part. Furthermore this type of site can be up and running in minutes. Please note: this is the only time that you will ever hear me recommend the use of freewebs and other such free webhosting companies.
If you are planning on making money from the website or gaining lots of search engine traffic then don’t sign up for a freewebs account. It just really is not a serious solution, I have tried it! If this type of website is not for you then move to step 2.
2. A site for a business with an impressive range of features- (chat boxes, forums and so on) If you are creating a website for a business then you would be wise to register with a hosting company such as host gator. This is a web hosting company which I am extremely familiar with. I have on several occasions dealt with their customer services team. I have always found them helpful and effective, (available 24/7 on a free online chat system). Host gator offer some good deals at reasonable prices. The amount of web space that they give you is amazing and so far I have never had any problems with site downtime or access. I would recommend hosting your website with Host Gator. As a web hosting company Host Gator will host your website, they will not however provide you with help and advice to help your website. To do this you will need to use website creation software such as Microsoft Front Page. Again, I am familiar with this software, it has worked well for me and you may find you already own it, (it comes as part of the Microsoft Office package).
3. You want to create the type of website which makes money?
